Garden House

I built this garden house for my wife for our 15th wedding anniversary; she promised me lush gardens and I promised her interesting buildings, neither of us has been disappointed! It was built from the wood milled from 2 large pine trees that stood right here. They were removed because they were threatening other buildings. All the wood except the shingles and shakes came from the trees. All the doors and windows were salvaged. I have never had more fun building anything!
A most interesting though: I started with no preconceived notion whatever and just went along on intuition and whims. It happened over a few years so I had time to stare at it and let my mind wander about what the next move was. I came away thinking that making a plan and following it is almost the worst thing you can do! Interesting seeing as how I make a living drawing plans! Better to start with a stick and scratch a square on the ground and go from there. Alas, not many have that option I guess…
